Orders from Starbase 6

I received this from the Region Six Regional Coordinator:

Greetings everyone,

One of the most pleasurable duties for an RC is to order the launching of a
new ship. New chapters help to ensure the continuity of the fleet.

It is with great pleasure that I announce that I have signed the orders
launching the USS Vre'kasht NCC-33187 and have forwarded them onto RADM Tien
at Shakedown Operations. The Vre'kasht is under the command of Commander
T'Plon, with Lt. JG Siran as her Executive Officer.

Commander T'Plon, I hereby release the Vre'kasht from her moorings under
your command. Please keep her at Station Keeping within the Starbase's
defensive perimeter until you've received your orders from RADM Tien to
start your shakedown.

In Service to the (Ever-growing) Sixth Fleet,

Mike

USS Vre'kasht NX-33187

The following is the official letter giving me a ship in STARFLEET, The International Star Trek Fan Association, Inc. We are still waiting to launch on her shakedown cruise because we have to have 5 STARFLEET members for that. We have the necessary two, we're just waiting for them to join up.

By order of Starfleet Command, Department of Technical Services, the following starship is hereby authorized to you and your crew:

Name: U.S.S. Vre'kasht
Vessel Class/Type: Surak-Class Light Research Cruiser
Registry: NCC-33187

Upon receiving confirmation from Starfleet Operations regarding final commissioning and first assignment orders, you will proceed with all due haste to the Vre'kasht's current assigned spacedock berth to board and assume operational command.

In the interim, please take the time to familiarize yourself with all design specifications and operating parameters for U.S.S. Vre'kasht, in order to assure a smooth deployment when the time comes.

All best to you and your crew..

In Service to the Fleet,

Alex

Kiva.org

Yesterday on Glenn Beck's television program there was a story about an organization called Kiva.org.

Kiva.org allows individuals to make $25 loans to low-income entrepreneurs in the developing world (microfinance). By doing so, individuals like you provide affordable working capital for the poor (money to buy a sewing machine, livestock, etc.), empowering them to earn their way out of poverty.

It's a new, direct and sustainable way to fight global poverty, and the way I see it, I get a higher return on $25 helping someone build a future than the interest my checking account pays.
